About Monique
Monique Evans, LCSW

My name is Monique and I am a licensed therapist in New York City. I currently work in the mental health field with families, couples, and individuals. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from NYU Silver School of Social Work in New York City. In addition, I hold specialized postgraduate experience in family therapy from the esteemed Ackerman Institute for the Family. I am committed to working with you bringing grace, care, compassion, and healing on your journey.
My identity as a Black Woman is important to me and how I engage with others in our working relationship with regards to race, social justice, and consciousness. I hold deep passion about these issues, how they affect daily living, and how to continue the conversation. I hold hope that those whom I work with will leave feeling empowered. I want you to be an active author in writing the story of YOUR personal healing.
My clinical training as a social worker and family therapist is the framework I utilize to provide treatment. I utilize trauma informed, evidence-based treatment modalities and approaches to treat a range of issues/ presenting symptoms you may be facing. Some of these issues include but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, family and couples’ communication, school issues, childhood trauma and adult mental illness. Collaboration and teamwork are integral to the work we can do individually and with your interpersonal relationships. With these ingredients, I strive to help you achieve not only your treatment goals, but a renewed perspective on your life, relationships, and situations.

"Beneath every behavior there is a feeling. And beneath each feeling is a need. And when we meet that need...we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom. You can do it when you're ready."
